Hi LINC 7 Students,
We have been talking in class about setting healthy boundaries.
Here's a great online article called "3 Steps To Strengthening Your Boundaries To Build A Happier Life And Career". It discusses how we need to...
1) Gain self-awareness about our personal needs
2) Stopping "pleasing" others in order to feel safe
3) Get help so we can stop a cycle of abuse or mistreatment

Conflict Resolution Note-taking Practice
Hi Everyone,
Here's the link to the short video on Conflict Resolution. The narrator speaks very quickly, so you'll have to watch this several times - and perhaps even stop and start it as you listen!
Please complete the set of notes that I gave you as homework.

More on Emotional Intelligence
Hi Everyone,
Today, I'd like you to watch a slideshow (online) and make notes on the key ideas in it.
It's called "11 Signs That You Lack Emotional Intelligence." We don't want to emphasize the negative, but it's worth considering your behavior about these topics.
For example, do you have trouble asserting yourself and what you want in life?
Do you hold a grudge?
Are you "triggered" by certain situations in life that create an emotional response in you?
Do you "hold in" your anger all the time?
This is good note-taking practice - and I hope you'll find it useful to consider these questions and behaviors in your daily lives.
We'll review your notes together in class.
Here's the link to the SLIDESHOW.

Working with Emotional Intelligence
Hello LINC 7 Students,
As we continue to learn about Emotional Intelligence, I thought it might be fun for you to complete an on-line survey of your personal "EQ."
This involves answering about 10 multiple-choice type questions, and then you get a score out of 200, rating your emotional intelligence!
Please click here and don't forget to record your score. We'll discuss this in class on Tuesday.
https://www.arealme.com/eq/en/
Second, here's a short video of Daniel Goleman, the author of the book Emotional Intelligence, explaining this concept. Just watch the first half please, and think about these questions:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y7m9eNoB3NU
1. What is a "moral compass"? Why is it important?
2. What is "neuro-plasticity"? How is this important when we consider the human brain / mind?
3. Why does Daniel Goleman think EI should be taught in schools? What are the benefits?

Using SMART Goals
Hello LINC 7 Students!
Here's the online reading for today, gang!
It's about using the system of SMART goals to achieve your business objectives.
https://www.thebalance.com/smart-goal-examples-2951827
As you are reading this, think about how you can apply these ideas to learning English.
Is your goal for this term measurable? How will you measure it?
Is your goal specific enough? Often students' goals are too broad or vague!
