Hello LINC 7 Students,
Here's the link to the video that I would like you to watch and make notes on this weekend.
It's about 6 minutes long. The speaker describes four personality types.
Take notes on the key ideas, and then complete the self-analysis on page 2.

Compassionate Communication
Hello Students!
Here's the link to a great (short) article on 8 good tips about using compassionate communication.
Tip #1 is learning to focus on the other person rather than on yourself. When we do this, we are able to develop a deeper understanding of that other person and their needs.

Here's the link to a short (2:30) video on Non-violent Communication, which is another (the original) name for Compassionate Communication.
This video uses animation and graphics to show the transformation that is possible when two people begin to communicate from the heart rather than from just "I want..."

This week!
Hi LINC 7 Students!
Here's the link to that video on passive-aggressive behaviour.
Here's the link to the listening homework -- a TED Talk on the importance of sleep.
Here's the link to a website about the immune system.
"The role of the immune system — a collection of structures and processes within the body — is to protect against disease or other potentially damaging foreign bodies. When functioning properly, the immune system identifies a variety of threats, including viruses, bacteria and parasites, and distinguishes them from the body's own healthy tissue. Key parts of the immune system are the lymph nodes, the spleen, bone marrow, and the thymus gland."
Here is an idea about what we'll be doing tomorrow -- Tuesday, Feb. 26:
Stress and how it affects the immune system
Ways to reduce stress

1. A good flow
would be to 'mingle' (learn a bit about each other) first. After clarifying each others' names, our
students will share their role in the health care team and also a bit about
their program. They'll ask Doug's
students to share a bit about themselves (work/family; future goals).
2. The teaching
(with eliciting and communication skills of clarification) will involve:
Stress and how it affects the immune system
Ways to reduce stress
Looking
forward to it!

Hello!
Here's a link to a good short article that compares "doing" versus "being."
Here's a summary of key ideas:

Here's a summary of key ideas:
Qualities of “Doing” Mode
- Awareness of how things “are” and how they “should” be
- Goal-oriented efforts to “fix” things
- Increasingly harder efforts towards reaching my goals
- Most actions tend to happen automatically
- Lack of conscious awareness in the present moment
Qualities of “Being” Mode
- Connection with the present moment (= "being present")
- Acknowledgement of how things are in the moment
- Willingness to allow things to be just as they are… no efforts to alter/change experience
- Openness and acceptance of pleasant, neutral, and negative emotional states
- Calmness, stillness, and a sense of being centered
