Hi LINC 7 students,
Today, we were discussing "at risk" boys. Here's the link to the Boys Club Network. It was founded by two Vancouver secondary school educators.
Some Canadian boys and young adults are losing their innocence, happiness and basic human
potential because of drugs, gangs, violence, crime, depression, suicide and hopelessness. The Boys Club Network helps these young men, who often have no mentors or positive role models.
Contemporary
society has, in many cases, left boys behind. With more opportunities for girls and young woman, many young men are in trouble.
The Boys Club Network helps these boys find their way, find themselves, and finish school. The BCN mentors help them channel destructive behaviour, frustration and anger
into positive behaviour, responsibility and empathy.
Currently the Network is operating in the school districts in East Vancouver, North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Courtenay, and
Abbotsford.
