Here's the link to a 8 minute clip of Marshall Rosenberg explaining an example of Compassion Communication in a marriage.
He points out that if couples skip the step of clearly stating their NEEDS, and try to find a SOLUTION without expressing their real needs, then often they fail.
However, if the couple can genuinely communicate their needs, without jumping to "strategies" for a solution, they can succeed. "The solution finds them."
In the video, the couple has problems with the family spending. Marshall helps the couple identify their basic needs -- separate from their judgements.
